For the last several months, Aspire Credit Union has been focused on supporting Project BEE and its mission. During the month of May, we hosted a Diaper Drive where we collected diapers, wipes, and other necessary items for infants, along with their ‘Donation Station’ where members of the credit union could make a monetary donation to their cause. In June, we shifted to a Toiletry Drive to benefit their Community Shower, a program where anyone who needs to bathe will be given personal hygiene items and a hot shower to clean up. Finally, in the month of July, we conducted a Professional Clothing Drive to benefit Project BEE’s Career Closet and we had an overwhelming response from members of the community. The Career Closet provides anyone who needs it a hand-up with an outfit for an interview or work attire.
As we conclude our 6-month partnership with this fantastic organization, we are pleased to pledge monetary funds to their capital campaign benefiting the Broadway Circle Project. Mindee Kohlman, CEO of Aspire Credit Union stated, “Project BEE has demonstrated consistent and unwavering support for those in our community who need it most, and we are pleased to support their efforts with a $5,000 contribution to their capital campaign.” In tough economic times, families that need assistance can use a hand up and housing to fit their needs. The Broadway Circle Project will keep families together and safe as they receive help during their neediest times.
Liz Larson, Executive Director for the Project BEE organization shared “We are so grateful to Aspire Credit Union, and their members, for the last few months of support through donation drives, awareness, and now this capital campaign contribution. Broadway Circle will be the first resource hub of its kind in our community, including a family shelter, a soup kitchen/food pantry, and affordable permanent housing.” Project BEE was awarded a grant to get them started but it did not cover the total cost of the project. Larson has been actively campaigning for the additional two million in funding that is needed for this project. She continued sharing, “These funds will go towards construction expenses and help alleviate fundraising worry for our team as we work hard to complete this significant project.”
