Loan / Collection Officer

Aspire Credit Union is seeking a dedicated and member-focused Loan / Collection Officer to join our lending team. This position is responsible for managing collection activities for consumer and mortgage loans to minimize losses while maintaining positive member relationships. The Loan / Collection Officer serves as the primary contact for repossessions, delinquent loan resolution, collection agencies, and collateral recovery efforts. Additionally, this role assists members with consumer and VISA loan applications, evaluates loan requests, approves loans within established authority limits, and provides financial guidance to members.

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills, along with a commitment to delivering exceptional member service and supporting Aspire Credit Union’s mission and values.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collections-

* Review delinquent loan accounts and determine appropriate collection actions.

* Contact delinquent members to collect past-due payments and establish payment arrangements.

* Manage collection activities, repossessions, foreclosures, and disposition of collateral for problem loans.

* Determine when delinquency situations warrant repossession, foreclosure, or charge-off in accordance with Credit Union policies.

* Prepare and distribute past-due notices and collection correspondence.

* Collaborate closely with the Loan Manager regarding unusual or complex collection situations.

* Work with insurance companies and coordinate force-placed insurance when necessary.

* Maintain professional, respectful, and compassionate communication with members during collection efforts.

* Serve as the primary contact with third-party collection agencies.

* Assist in recovering negative balances on Share and Share Draft accounts.

Consumer lending-

*Assist members through the consumer and VISA loan application process.

*Gather, analyze, and evaluate financial information and supporting documentation to determine loan eligibility.

*Approve VISA and consumer loans within established lending authority.

*Ensure all approved loans are properly documented and compliant with Credit Union policies and procedures.

*Deliver exceptional member service while identifying opportunities to meet members’ financial needs.

*Cross-sell Credit Union products and services based on member needs.

*Make referrals throughout the Credit Union to strengthen member relationships and generate new business.

*Participate in member outreach and special deposit and loan campaigns.

* Represent Aspire Credit Union at community and external events as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

*Must be bondable

*Financial/Lending knowledge required; Lending/Processing knowledge preferred

EXPECTED HOURS:

*40 hours per week with varying hours
